Privacy notice

Sangat is a private, invite-only community for members of a business cohort. This notice explains what we collect, who can see it, how long we keep it and what you can do about it.
What we collect and who sees it

Each cohort is separate: members of one cohort can’t see another cohort’s posts, profiles or member list, even if you belong to both. We don’t sell data, show ads, or use your content to train models.
We send invitations, sign-in links and, if you switch them on, short reply alerts. Emails never contain the text of posts, comments or contact details. There is no marketing or digest email.
Where it’s stored
The service runs on Cloudflare. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Uploaded images are re-encoded to strip hidden metadata such as location, stored privately, and only served to current members of the cohort. Sign-in uses one-time email links; we store no passwords.
How long we keep it
- While you’re a member, your data stays until you change or delete it.
- If an admin removes you from a cohort, your profile and contact details are hidden at once. Your past posts stay, labelled “Former member”, so conversations still make sense.
- If you delete your account, we carry it out within 30 days: your profile, contact details, reactions, RSVPs and form answers are erased, and your posts and comments become empty “removed” placeholders.
- Encrypted backups are kept for 35 days, then overwritten, so deleted data leaves backups within that time.
- Moderation records (who hid what, and why) are kept for as long as the cohort exists, without the content itself.
Your choices
- Choose which contact details to share, field by field, in your business profile.
- Download everything you’ve created from Settings → Your data.
- Request deletion of your account from Settings → Delete account.
- Report content that breaks the community’s rules from the menu on any post, comment or profile.
